Cool Mom (Again) Bucket List

In The Summer Between Us post, I mentioned this July I’m turning 45 years young. I thought why not attempt to make it fun and do 45 things before I turn 45 years old. Then reality set in and I thought that’s not gonna happen. But I still want to challenge myself to try new things. So enter 50 things before I turn 50 years old.

50 (or more) Things Before I Turn 50 Years Old

Of course there’s a list. I’m excited for this new sense of adventure I have for self. And in true I need to check something off initially fashion, I’m gonna add something I did recently. I mean it was also a part of me stepping out the box. I’m also a planner so let’s dissect this part of my brain for a minute.

The list is broken into categories to help stay focused. I probably will not tackle one category at a time but one item here and one item there occasionally.

  • Travel & Adventure
  • Health & Wellness
  • Relationships & Connections
  • Personal Growth & Learning
  • Career & Finances
  • Creativity & Hobbies
  • Self Care & Confidence
  • Legacy & Meaning

Why a Bucket List Now?

Because this chapter of my life feels different. Somewhere between carpool lines, career deadlines, and coordinating all the appointments, I realized I was living on autopilot. And while I’ve loved raising my daughter, supporting student-athletes, and holding it all together with a messy bun and iced chai latte — I also want more to my life.

More memories that are mine.
More bold, unfiltered joy.
More things that make me say “Wow, I really did that.”

This list isn’t about proving anything to anyone. It’s about reclaiming my time. It’s a love letter to the younger me who always wanted to finish ballet classes, write a book, paint the portrait, or road trip with no set destination. And it’s a promise to the future me — the 50-year-old cool mom with stories to tell and souvenirs to show for it.

A Win is a Win

Some wins will be loud and shiny — like finally taking that girls’ trip to Italy or hitting a savings goal. Others will be quiet but powerful — like learning to sleep eight hours guilt-free or finally forgiving myself for past mistakes. I’m choosing me this time around which doesn’t always happen.

And to be fully transparent, I know there will be detours. Some days I’ll feel like Beyoncé, other days I’ll feel like I’m just barely making it to bedtime. And that’s okay. Life doesn’t stop for a bucket list, but it can be made more beautiful by one.

So if you see me wearing stiletto heels on a Tuesday, riding in a hot air balloon, or taking myself out to dinner, just know, I’m out here crossing things off and enjoying it all.

Because cool moms don’t just raise legends — they live legendary too!!!

Want to follow along on my journey? I’ll be sharing updates, fails, and unexpected wins along the way because every step counts, even the messy ones.

What would you put on your list before 50? Let me know — I might borrow it. 😉
