Oh. My. God. It’s finally here. Today is August 1, 2019 and we are days away from the first day of high school.
SCREAMS INTERNALLY!
So for those of you that don’t know or are new to our blog/social pages, it’s just the two of us. I’m a single mom that has worked and prayed HARD. Going back to school while Rhi was a toddler to earn my Masters degree in Athletic Administration in one year (suggested program was two but ya girl needed to work full time) and moving from state to state to work with some of the best Division I Intercollegiate programs on some of the best colleges/universities. I’m just really trying to be the best mom I can be for this gift from God.
All that said, we’ve found ourselves again in a new state but with high school upon us, this will be it. I’ve always said I wouldn’t move no matter how good the opportunity once Rhi was in high school. High school is a time where there needs to be stability. Students are planning for the first big step of their futures and it can be hard to make friends the older kids get. The teenage life has its good moments, but teenage girls can be wicked. We’ve all seen Mean Girls, right? So we’re planting some roots for the moment in Florida. I mean it’s not that bad of a place to be 🤷🏾♀️.
So now we officially start the 3 YEAR PLAN. The 3 Year Plan is something Rhiyan came up with. She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, although at times it seems she’s almost grown. She knows the number of years it takes to become a veterinarian and wants to start that journey as soon as possible. I know some people will read this and disagree with the plan as it can seem as if she is growing up too fast or won’t get to experience all things of a 4-year high school experience. But if our children are focused on a specific goal and have taken the initiative to see it through successfully, who are we to steer them on a different path.
The 3 Year Plan requires me to be a supportive mom. It also will include my 40th Birthday. Turning 40 is something that I’m excited and nervous about. It’s a huge milestone in a woman’s life and can be viewed as the hump. But I’m not going to give in to the negative vibes of this wonderful day. I’m planning and hoping to stick to the plan of documenting this year leading up to 40. I’ll reflect on some life choices and cross some things off our bucket list. And together, we will share more details on Rhi’s plan to graduate high school in three years.
So stay tuned to what we’re planning to share.
