Bucket List Check In – Number 5

Okay. We, well I mean Rhi, just crossed off number 5 of our bucket list. If you want to see our full list as of the beginning of the year, click here.

We’re finishing up the year on our annual passes to Busch Gardens. It was one of the first things we purchased when we moved to Florida. Tampa is somewhat close to us and I thought we would go regularly like we did with Six Flags in Texas. Well that’s not the case. Although I feel we got our (my) money worth, it’s still a lot to drive to Tampa and then drive back after a day in the Florida sun walking through a theme park. I spent more time planning for the trip, to enjoy the day. But again, I enjoyed being a passholder and contemplating renewal.

So back to the bucket list. NUMBER 5 – Pet a kangaroo.

Busch Gardens has amazing animal encounters. We fell in love with the white bengal tigers there because of an encounter program. While on a recent trip, we discovered a brand new opportunity. During specific times you can feed the wallabies from outside of the fence. But this day, they offered an opportunity to go inside the animal enclosure to feed and pet them. I had on sandals so I said no. But you know Rhiyan didn’t pass up a chance to be this close to a kangaroo – I mean wallaby.

Zoo keeper Lisa was very informative from start to finish. I love how Rhiyan not only makes time for the animals, but to ask questions about the keeper’s responsibilities. I guess that’s what you get from a kid that is focused on becoming a veterinarian. Below is a short video of the experience. It was actually twenty minutes, but I cut it down for you all 🙂 Enjoy.

xoxo – Kelli
